Stevenage Driving School only use tried and tested methods recommended by the D.S.A.
Our beginner’s lessons use the following set pattern:
- 1st lesson - “Controls Lesson”.
- 2nd lesson - “Moving off and making normal stops
- Further lessons would be: “Approach to turn left and right (major to minor)” and then “Emerging to the left and right”.
Where you live may make a difference to the order, for example, Stevenage has quite a lot of roundabouts, so a lesson on dealing with these would follow “Emerging”.
The “Emergency Stop” would be taught early, depending on the pupil’s ability and nervousness.
Although these lessons do follow a set pattern, they will always progress at a speed which is comfortable for the learner. Our driving instructors are experienced enough to speed up or slow down lessons so that the learner always gets the best driving lesson for their particular ability.
Each individual lesson is always structured in the same way,:
- An explanation of the task to be learnt
- A demonstration offered
- A full guided talk through
- Practical lesson
This structure means that the learner driver is able feel confident and comfortable with the process, leaving them free to concentrate on the business of learning to drive. Mistakes will be made, and these will used to help the learning process, allowing the learner driver to use them to gain confidence and improve their driving ability.
